Tekken Tag Tournament is a groundbreaking 3D fighting game developed and published by Namco as a launch title for the PlayStation 2.
Released in 2000, it brought the world of Tekken into the next generation of gaming with polished visuals, fluid animation, and, most notably, a brand-new gameplay system centered around tag-team battles.
Unlike the numbered entries in the series, Tekken Tag Tournament is a non-canonical dream match, allowing players to pair up characters from across the entire Tekken franchise.
Featuring a massive roster of returning fighters, the game introduced a new layer of depth and strategy with the ability to switch between two characters mid-fight, blending their strengths and timing tags for devastating combos.
With its fast-paced action, detailed arenas, and highly competitive two-on-two format, Tekken Tag Tournament quickly became a fan favorite and a showcase title for the PS2’s power.
It not only honored the legacy of Tekken but also redefined how tag mechanics could be integrated into the fighting genre.
