The game follows the journey of an unnamed Prince, the son of a Persian king, who unknowingly unleashes a powerful curse during a military conquest. The story begins with the Prince, his father, and their army attacking the Maharaja’s palace in India. During the raid, the Prince discovers an ancient artifact known as the Dagger of Time, and his father seizes the mystical Hourglass of Time.

The turning point comes when the Prince, manipulated by the deceitful Vizier of the Maharaja, uses the Dagger to release the Sands of Time from the Hourglass, transforming almost everyone in the palace into monstrous sand creatures. Only three people remain unaffected: the Prince (because he holds the Dagger), the Vizier (protected by his staff), and Farah, the Maharaja’s daughter.

The Prince, filled with guilt and confusion, embarks on a dangerous quest to undo the damage, guided by Farah. Together, they navigate the crumbling palace, face hordes of sand creatures, and attempt to return the Sands to the Hourglass and reverse the curse.

The narrative is presented as a flashback, with the Prince telling the story as a past event, adding a fairy-tale, introspective tone to the game.
