Introduction

Kingdom Hearts is an action role-playing game (ARPG) developed by Square Enix (formerly SquareSoft) in collaboration with Disney Interactive.

Released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002, it is the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series and introduces a unique fusion of Final Fantasy-style storytelling and Disney’s iconic characters and worlds.

Story Overview

You play as Sora, a cheerful and brave 14-year-old boy from a peaceful island.

After a mysterious force destroys his home, Destiny Islands, and separates him from his childhood friends Riku and Kairi, Sora is thrown into an adventure across many worlds.

Sora is chosen as the wielder of the Keyblade, a mystical weapon capable of defeating creatures known as the Heartless — beings born from darkness in people’s hearts.
