In God of War II, players once again control Kratos, the newly crowned God of War, following the death of Ares in the first game.

Despite his godly status, Kratos remains tormented by his past and defies the gods of Olympus, leading to his betrayal by Zeus.

Stripped of his powers and left for dead, Kratos embarks on a journey to change his fate by seeking out the Sisters of Fate and exacting revenge on Zeus.
