Final Fantasy X-2 is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy X, making it one of the rare instances where the series continues the same storyline. Set in the world of Spira, the game takes place two years after the events of the first title. The once war-torn world has entered a period known as the Eternal Calm, but political tensions, faction rivalries, and mysterious events still threaten peace.

Unlike its predecessor, which carried a more dramatic and tragic tone, Final Fantasy X-2 adopts a lighter, more adventurous atmosphere — though it still contains emotional moments and political intrigue. This game also breaks away from the usual all-new casts seen in Final Fantasy titles, instead focusing on returning characters, particularly Yuna, now in the role of the main protagonist.
