The story of Dirge of Cerberus centers around Vincent Valentine, a mysterious, brooding former Turk with a dark past and supernatural abilities. The narrative unfolds after the fall of Meteor and the events of Advent Children. A new threat emerges in the form of Deepground, a secret military unit created by Shinra Electric Power Company, buried beneath the ruins of Midgar.

Deepground’s soldiers, known as Tsviets, plan to awaken an ancient destructive entity called Omega, which could potentially end all life on the planet. Vincent becomes entangled in this conflict due to his connection to Chaos, a powerful being residing within him, and Lucrecia Crescent, the scientist who experimented on him years ago.
