Introduction

James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace is a first-person and third-person action-shooter video game developed by Treyarch and published by Activision.

Released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2 (alongside other platforms), it is based on the James Bond films “Casino Royale” (2006) and “Quantum of Solace” (2008), starring Daniel Craig as Agent 007.

The PS2 version is significantly different from its next-gen counterparts (like on PS3 or Xbox 360) in both gameplay and presentation.

It was developed by Eurocom specifically for the PS2 and features a third-person perspective throughout the game, rather than the FPS/third-person hybrid used in other versions. The PS2 edition is also more linear and streamlined, tailored for the hardware limitations of the platform.

Story Overview

Though titled Quantum of Solace, the game’s plot heavily incorporates key story arcs from Casino Royale, starting with Bond’s mission to stop a terrorist named Le Chiffre, who funds criminal activities through high-stakes gambling.

The story then transitions into Bond seeking vengeance for the betrayal and death of Vesper Lynd, his love interest, and uncovering the secret organization called Quantum.

You play through various missions set in iconic locations from both films, including the construction site chase, the casino in Montenegro, the sinking house in Venice, and the final desert showdown from Quantum of Solace.
